The short answer

  • On Desert Island, use a Standard Lure to catch an Endangered creature; Seahorse, Needlefish and Bowlfish are current confirmed examples.
  • Give the Endangered catch to the Tourist under the palm tree to receive the one-use Carrot bait.
  • Equip an upgraded ranged weapon and cast the Carrot only after clearing space around a palm tree.
  • Circle the tree so it blocks the rolling charge; widen the loop when purple poison begins covering the ground.
  • Pick up the Pufferfish Fin, not ordinary Meat Chunks, and give the Fin to the Tourist for Island 4 coordinates.

Get the Carrot bait from the Tourist

Do not publish or follow a route that promises one guaranteed Endangered species. The quest checks the status, while the available catch depends on the current fishing results.

  1. 1

Buy a Standard Lure and fish around Desert Island until a catch is labeled Endangered.

  2. 2

Keep a Seahorse, Needlefish or Bowlfish if one appears; current walkthroughs confirm all three can satisfy the request.

  3. 3

Give the Endangered creature to the Tourist sitting beneath a palm tree.

  4. 4

Keep the returned Carrot unequipped while you buy ammunition, healing and weapon upgrades.

Prepare the Desert Island arena

An optional Blue Shark route can activate the grill and improve cooked food, but it is not part of the Carrot quest itself. Complete it only if the extra healing and sell value will help your run.

  1. 1

Use an upgraded SMG or another ranged weapon you can control while moving.

  2. 2

Choose one palm tree with open ground around it and remove loose hazards before casting.

  3. 3

Restore health and keep food in an easy inventory slot.

  4. 4

Equip the Carrot and cast from shore only when the escape timer can be handled immediately.

Use the palm tree against the rolling charge

The tree interrupts the straight charge, but it can also trap you if the circle is too tight. Keep enough distance to see the boss reposition and preserve an exit around the poison.

  1. 1

Keep the trunk between you and the Pufferfish as it lines up the roll.

  2. 2

Move around the same tree rather than sprinting across the whole island.

  3. 3

Fire while the boss is turning or recovering, then return behind the trunk.

  4. 4

When the boss grows and drops purple poison, widen the circle and never cross a fresh pool just to keep shooting.

Return the Fin and unlock Island 4

  1. 1

Check every drop after the fight and pick up the Pufferfish Fin with exposed bone.

  2. 2

Ignore ordinary Meat Chunks for this quest; the Tourist needs the Fin.

  3. 3

Give the Fin to the Tourist and wait for the Radar coordinates to update.

  4. 4

Follow the red destination marker to Island 4.

Failed-attempt checklist

  1. 1

Tourist gives no Carrot: verify the catch itself is labeled Endangered before handing it over.

  2. 2

Boss never appears: confirm Carrot is equipped as bait and the cast is in the surrounding water.

  3. 3

Charge keeps landing: use one palm as a line-of-sight block instead of running in a straight line.

  4. 4

Poison closes the route: widen the circle early and stop crossing the boss's previous path.

  5. 5

No progression: pick up and hand in the Pufferfish Fin rather than a Meat Chunk.
