Island 3 secret catch

How to Catch Bing Bong with the Coconut

On Desert Island, buy the Coconut from the palm tree near the center of the island, equip it on a normal Fishing Rod and cast from the shore. Prepare before the cast: the Coconut is a one-use lure and Bing Bong becomes a fast fight as soon as the catch reaches land.

The short answer

  • Reach Desert Island, the third island, and keep at least $350 for the Coconut.
  • Find the palm near the island center, stand on or beside the small rock at its base, then aim high into the leaves until the Coconut purchase prompt appears.
  • Equip the Coconut on a normal Fishing Rod and cast from Island 3 only after buying ammunition and clearing space behind you.
  • When Bing Bong lands, switch to an upgraded ranged weapon, keep moving and use the palms to interrupt direct approaches.

Find the Coconut purchase prompt

The Coconut is not a normal shop item. Current guides place its prompt in a palm tree near the center of Desert Island. A small rock at the base gives you enough height to aim into the canopy; look upward and move the crosshair through the leaves rather than checking only the trunk.

The current reported price is $350. Confirm the item name and make sure the Coconut appears in your inventory before leaving the tree. If no prompt appears, check that you are on Island 3 and test the central palm from the rock before searching every tree.

  1. 1

Reach Desert Island and save normally before spending the lure money.

  2. 2

Find the central palm with a small usable rock at its base.

  3. 3

Stand on or beside the rock and aim high into the leaves until the purchase prompt appears.

  4. 4

Buy one Coconut for the current reported price of $350, then verify it in your inventory.

Prepare before using the one-use lure

Do not use the Coconut as a test cast. Current player guides describe one Coconut as one attempt, and the fight begins immediately after the catch reaches land. Buy ammunition, heal, choose a difficulty you can sustain and leave open movement space near the shoreline first.

An upgraded SMG or another reliable ranged weapon is safer than a melee-only plan. The important decision is sustained damage while moving, not a claimed best weapon or a fixed health number that may change with difficulty or a later patch.

Catch and fight Bing Bong

The tree route is cover, not a guarantee that the creature will stay stuck. Keep an exit line and do not stand directly between two trunks. In co-op, one player can keep the encounter moving while another maintains ranged damage, but the same preparation still matters.

  1. 1

Equip a normal Fishing Rod and select the Coconut as the active lure.

  2. 2

Cast from the Island 3 shoreline and reel normally until Bing Bong reaches land.

  3. 3

Switch to your ranged weapon immediately and move instead of emptying a magazine while standing still.

  4. 4

Circle the palms so Bing Bong has to change direction; fire during the opening rather than trying to hold melee range.

  5. 5

After the fight, inspect the body and open the Tab encyclopedia to confirm the entry before buying another Coconut.

If Bing Bong does not appear

  1. 1

Confirm the inventory label says Coconut, not a regular lure, boss lure or Carrot.

  2. 2

Confirm you are casting on Desert Island with the Fishing Rod.

  3. 3

Check whether the Coconut disappeared on the last cast; if it did, do not assume the item can be reused.

  4. 4

Open Tab after the fight before repeating the route; the encounter may already be recorded even if you missed the notification.

  5. 5

If the exact setup still produces another creature, preserve the current patch number and a short video before spending more money.

Bing Bong and Island 3 progression are different jobs

Bing Bong is a secret catch for players exploring the PEAK reference and completion routes. The required Island 3 story chain uses an endangered creature, the Tourist's Carrot and the Pufferfish boss instead. Do not spend your only quest item or delay progression because the two encounters share an island.
