How to Fish: Fish Not Biting on Island 2

If the Island 2 rod looks dead after you cast, first test the control players repeatedly miss: hold the left mouse button instead of only clicking once.

The short answer

  • Cast with the new Island 2 rod.
  • Hold the left mouse button after casting; do not only tap it.
  • Watch whether the hook or line begins moving.
  • If it moves but nothing bites, change one variable at a time: lure, position, then session.

Run this 30-second input test

  1. 1

Equip the Island 2 rod and make a clean cast.

  2. 2

Keep the left mouse button held for several seconds.

  3. 3

Look for visible movement from the hook or line.

  4. 4

If movement starts, the rod input is working; continue with lure and location checks.

If the hook moves but fish still ignore it

Keep the rod and location fixed, then try a different lure for one complete attempt. Next, move to a nearby fishing position without changing the lure. Finally, leave and reopen the session. Changing everything at once makes it impossible to identify the real cause.

If the hook never moves

Re-equip the rod, confirm the input binding has not changed and restart the session. This page does not claim that every no-bite report has the same cause; it separates the repeated hold-input mistake from other failures.
