Island 2 ordinary catch

How to Catch a Piranha in How to Fish

Use the Fishing Rod with the Hotdog Beginner Lure on Island 2. The regular Piranha is a $4 ordinary catch; it does not use the three-Leech boss trigger and does not drop the Piranha Skeleton.

The short answer

  • Island: Island 2
  • Rod: Fishing Rod
  • Lure: Beginner Lure with Hotdog
  • Reported sale value: $4
  • This is the ordinary Piranha, not the Giant Piranha boss.

Catch the ordinary Island 2 Piranha

  1. 1

Go to Island 2 and equip the Fishing Rod.

  2. 2

Use the Beginner Lure with Hotdog as the bait setup.

  3. 3

Cast into Island 2 water and reel the regular Piranha onto land.

  4. 4

Damage the landed fish with fists or a weapon until the catch is complete.

Do not spend the Giant Piranha boss setup

A regular Piranha uses the Hotdog Beginner Lure and sells for $4. The Giant Piranha is a separate progression fight: collect three ground Leeches, trade them for the Modified Leech, prepare weapons and dynamite, then keep the Piranha Skeleton for the hand-in. If your goal is the boss, leave this page and follow the full boss route.

When the $4 catch is worth keeping

The sale value is low, so treat regular Piranha as collection progress, quick food or a by-product of Island 2 fishing—not a primary money farm. Sell it when every dollar helps with ammunition or lure restocking; eat it only when healing is the immediate blocker.

Failed-attempt checklist

  1. 1

No regular Piranha: confirm the lure combines Beginner Lure and Hotdog on Island 2.

  2. 2

Boss appears instead: remove the Modified Leech and save that quest bait for a prepared boss attempt.

  3. 3

Fish is on land but missing from the collection: finish the fight and pick up the catch.

  4. 4

Waiting for a Skeleton: only the Giant Piranha boss produces the progression hand-in.
